Weddings and engagements make my heart flutter. Newborns, like precious Sonnette Joy, make my heart absolutely melt.
Maybe it’s the perfectly formed little fingers and toes, so delicate and fragile. Or the wispy eyelashes, the downy hair. It could be the way their little bodies feel when you snuggle them: So compact inside skin that’s a touch too big, like the Saggy Baggy Elephant, all squeezable and cuddly. Maybe it’s the whole package — the tiny, helpless human, so beloved by the parents who think she is just the most perfect thing they’ve ever seen.
Stephen and Elizabeth, your newest little girl is such a darling treasure. God has blessed you so much! Thank you for letting me catch a glimpse into this early stage of her life, and this incredible stage of yours.
The room Sonnette shares with her big sister Dei is sweet and girly — just like the cream colored gown Sonnette wore home from the hospital last week. The pink dress below is the one Dei wore home from the hospital.
Sonnette’s grandmother and aunt handmade all the bedding and the beautiful mobile that hangs over her crib, and one day very soon, Sonnette will have her very own handpainted letters spelling out her name, just like her big sister.
Elizabeth tried getting Sonnette to stretch her legs out and relax, but I guess after nine months curled up into a ball, it makes sense that Sonnette was just more comfortable testing out her muscles.
Oh, those tiny toes!
Of course we couldn’t end this sweet baby’s blog without a slide show. (We recommend watching it in HD by simply clicking the “HD” button in the upper right corner.)
Stephen and Elizabeth, thank you so much for sharing your girls with me for the afternoon! She is such a beautiful baby, Dei is such a kind big sister, and together you all make a wonderful family!
And an update on Sonnette’s cousin, born just a couple weeks earlier: She came home from the NICU in time to join the rest of her family in welcoming Sonnette to the world.
