The Little Fella didn’t like the feel of the grass on his bare feet. He didn’t like the powdery sand between his toes. Or the wet sand on his soles. Mom guessed he was teething and had a headache. Little Fella did, however, love the beach ball, and the sound of his electric toothbrush, which his grandmother waved around behind my head as we worked fast to get some portraits of the Little Fella and his parents in front of their home-away-from-home in New Smyrna Beach. He loved being cuddled, and he loved making silly faces.
And afterward, Mom and Dad learned Little Fella had a 102 fever, which was actually the result of a virus, not a couple new molars. No wonder he wasn’t fully into his photo shoot! But he was such a trooper, and such a cutie — really, the camera loved him, even if he didn’t love it back quite as much as he loved that electric toothbrush.

And then there was this — hands-down one of my favorite shots of the day, snapped right as the Little Fella decided he’d had enough of being swung around in the air.

But he went right back to being perfectly happy. Like I said — he was such a trooper! And they were such a cute family! I loved the bright colors Mom chose for the first part of their session, and how they absolutely popped against the green grass and golden glow of the sun.
