Sonnette and her Family – Four Month Portraits | Central Florida Lifestyle Photographer

By four months old, there’s no question a little girl has a mind of her own. Hanging out with her family one morning last week — in some seriously stifling heat at 9 a.m. — Sonnette impatiently flipped through the pages of the storybook Mom read to her. Go faster, Mom, Sonnette’s newly-acquired motor skills demanded. And when big sister Dei gave Sonnette a few smooches, Sonnette’s concerned eyebrows did all the talking.

It’s incredible how much a baby changes from one week old, Sonnette’s age at her first portrait session, to four months old, the age she was when we got together last Friday. It’s also incredible how much a family stays exactly the same, even with a new, ever-growing addition to the family. Elizabeth, Stephen, and Dei have plenty of room in their laps for their new baby girl. But it’s clear Sonnette is already thinking about starting to get around on her own! Can you say “serious favorite”? This is a family that makes my job easy: I know that every time I show up, everyone will be perfectly coordinated, in a great mood, and ready to shoot. And the girls will be wearing adorable headbands! Next up is another favorite — well, a whole series of favorites, really. Any photograph Elizabeth is in is an automatic winner. One day her girls might realize that Elizabeth chose them over that modeling career that totally would have happened . . . if, you know, she had actually pursued a career in modeling . . . but there’s no question the girls are worth it! As soon as Elizabeth handed Sonnette over to Stephen, Sonnette decided it would be a good idea to suck on Dad’s thumb. Dei was off doing her own thing, but we got her together with Sonnette again for a few sister shots — with some really funny results. Apparently, plopping a four-month-old in a two-year-old’s lap is the perfect way to end up with this: And then we all bolted back into the air conditioned house! We spent a total of less than half an hour shooting that morning, because it was so mercilessly hot. But our timing was just right: Only ten minutes after we wrapped things up, the first rain from Tropical Storm Debby’s outer bands began falling outside. But there are more pictures in the slideshow! (For best quality, we recommend watching it in HD — choose the HD option in the upper right corner.)

Elizabeth and Stephen, thank you for having me photograph your family again, and thank you for letting me watch both your girls growing and documenting how their relationship is developing. You truly are a wonderful family, and a joy to photograph!

~ Laura
